Q: I know where most of my money is spent. Why do I need to continue tracking my spending?
The lack of accountability when it comes to our finances is one of the biggest factors to our downfall. It is certainly true that we generally have an idea on where our money is spent, but is that the same attitude a CEO would have? Certainly not! So how do we redirect our efforts to include this necessity within our busy lives?
It really boils down to a mind-set shift. Everyone is busy, but we all have the same amount of time. There are only 24 hours in a day. The average person sleeps 8 hours, another 8 hours are spent working, and 8 hours are left to be used at our discretion. Yes, sitting in traffic also does take up some of our valuable time, however, what we do with our discretionary time is what will translate to our own success.
Most clients are eager to start their Income Snowball and we encourage them to keep up that motivation, but they also need to realize there is effort involved. Miracles won’t happen without your effort. Setting aside at least half an hour to an hour a week initially to review the household finances and pay bills will make a dramatic difference tomorrow. Clients are able to see the bigger picture and prepare for what may come tomorrow. With the help of a coach, they will be able to reduce that time, almost to the point of automation. How valuable would that extra time be for you in the future?
As Lao-Tzu said, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Why not start today to get the results you want tomorrow?
